Black Adam - Action Comics Vol. 1 #831

Action Comics Vol. 1 #831 is an important issue for Black Adam because it takes a hard look at his strength as a villain. The issue sets Black Adam opposite Superman in a fist fight spanning entire pages- where the two are, seemingly, evenly matched. 

The two men struggle against one another blow for blow throughout the scene. Superman grows increasingly frustrated and loses himself in anger. It is an unusual show for Superman to behave this way- and it gives Black Adam the advantage. Black Adam proves himself as an equal match for the kryptonian and gives Superman the beating of his life. 

Black Adam further demonstrates intelligence, one of his better traits, by turning his back to Superman. As Superman channels all of his strength into one final assault, Black Adam turns away and forces Super Man's bluff. Black Adam demonstrates an understanding of his foe's biggest weakness, predictability.
